My Grandmother was a Madding and that is the way they spelled it. I think they must have spelled it however they wanted. My Grandmothrs dad was Asa Ablasom Madding son of Banister Madding son of Thomas Madding, son of John Madding Jr., son of John Madding Sr. who came from Wales. This is what I have just learned. Your Thomas was married to Rachel Dodson and he was the Brother of John Jr. born in 1760 in Pittsylvania Co., VA. Do this help any.
