Robinette . His age stated in the 1850 Lawrence County Kentucky Census quoted later in this paper is given as "61 years", while the 1860 Lawrence County Kentucky Census, also quoted later in this paper, give his age as "74 years". The census figures indicate a birth date of between 1786 and 1789. Robinette, Louis Adams and Beth Campbell Stemple list the birthplace of Arthur Adams as Virginia. . Louis Adams states that Arthur Adams was born in Russell County, Virginia. Stemple stated in her genealogy "The Descendants of Arthur Adams" that he was born "between 1786 - 1789 in Shockoe, Halifax (Pittsylvania) County, Virginia". He came to Kentucky about 1815, with his wife (MARGARET?) FRANCES "PEGGY" HORN, born ca 1793 in Virginia. They are believed to have married about 1810, possibly in Lee County, Virginia as that is where their daughter Elizabeth is said to have been born in 1811. Daughter Jane "Jincy" is said to have been born about 1814 in Scott County, Virginia. Son Isaac is said to have been born about 1817 in Kentucky and son John was born in 1819 in Floyd County, Kentucky. ARTHUR ADAMS is listed in Floyd County, Kentucky in 1820. He appears to be listed as "ARCHER ADDAMS" in the 1823 Lawrence County, KY Tax List of those persons in Lawrence who were previously in the mother county of Floyd. (Lawrence County, Kentucky was formed in 1822 from parts of Floyd and Greenup Counties. ARTHUR ADAMS is listed in the 1830, 1840, 1850 and 1860 censuses in Lawrence County, Kentucky. He believed to have died about 1861. His widow is listed in the 1870 census of Lawrence County, Kentucky and died before 1880. In Floyd County, Kentucky in 1820 are 17 households headed by men named ADAMS. Several of these have been identified as connected to the JOHN HOBBS ADAMS family, which established a community in what is today Letcher County, Kentucky. There are two men who may be related to Arthur, especially in view of the names of Arthur's first two sons: ISAAC ADAMS and JOHN ADAMS. ARTHUR acquired a land grant on Big Blaine Creek in what became Lawrence County in 1817 and most of his descendants stayed in the area. I was born an Adams and in that area. I have also not identified the line of his wife 'PEGGY' or FRANCES HORN. She is believed to be connected to the JESSE HORNE and JANE BELCHER family, as possibly a sister. I have been unsuccessful in determining even that. The children of ARTHUR ADAMS and FRANCES "PEGGY" HORN (HORNE): Children : 1. ELIZABETH "BETSY" ADAMS, b. May 02, 1811 Lee Co., VA; d. Thanks for asking! It helped me to review my notes and organize what I have and what I haven't. Arthur's trail is pretty clear once they made the move to Kentucky. It is the part before that that I can't seem to find. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
