He is in Mark Payne's will probated in 1775 in Pittsylvania County as Gilbert Turner or Tunner. He served in a Georgia company in the Revolutionary War and settled afterwards in Surry County, NC. Possibly had sons or grandsons named David, Gideon, and/or Gabriel. The family purchased land in an around Stewart's Creek in Surry County, NC and in Carroll and Grayson Counties in Virginia.
