    2. Hi Jerry -- The larger stones and the flakes of stone is what is left over from "flint knapping" if I have spelled it right. Members of the tribe with that talent would search for the right large stones of flint. Then they would strike off shards to break away a good piece of flint and then knap it into the shape of the arrowheads desired. There are usually lots of shards and leftover stone plus arrowheads that weren't acceptable in an area where knapping was done.
