Fellow Researchers, If you have any of the following surnames that originated in Virginia in your ancestry, you might want to read the above referenced bill that has been introduced in the House. Bradby, Adkins, Adams, Capt. John West, Willis Langston, William Cooper, James Langston, Thomas Cooke, Archibal Langston, Louis Gunn, William Gunn, Gideon Langston, John Sampson, William Sampson, John Mursh, Louis Langston, Henry Sampson, Edward Bird, John Bird, Carter Nelson, Edmund Nelson, Carter Spurlock, Edmund Bird, Clarke, Fortune, Johnson, Parker, Richardson, George Nelson, Benjamin Evans, Robert Johns, McNickle, Jarrett Blythe. Also noted within the Nansemond Tribe data, "in 1638, a Norfolk County Englishman married a Nansemond woman, according to an entry in a 17th century sermon book still owned by the Chief's family. The couple are lineal ancestors of all of the present Nansemond Tribe. In 1797, A Norfolk County issued a certificate stating that William Bass was of Indian and English descent, the Indian line of ancestry ran directly back to the early 18th century elder in a traditionalist section of Nansemonds on the reservation." There is a lot of interesting information concerning these early tribes. I dare say that there are many with Indian ancestry and don't even know it.
