Hi Donna, Hope the following contains some new information for you about the three names listed in your message:: James "Red Head" LEFTWICH (Augustine, Jr., Augustine, Sr., Thomas Sr., Ralph) b. 1779, d. 7 DEC 1854 (Age: 75&3mos). His will dated in Oct 1849 was probated 25 Dec 1854, source: WB "P", pg308, Bedford Co. James married Mildred Turner, dau of Admire Turner on 3 AUG 1797. (She is named in the cited will). James is the son of Augustine Leftwich, Jr. and Mary Turner, he had 7 siblings. Children of James and Mildred are: 1. James Thomas, 2. Lockey Claytor (m. Henry T. Franklin, 27 APR 1820), 3. Juliet Hubbard, 4. Hairston A.(b. 1 FEB 1804, d. 15 JUL 1875, m. Elizabeth Hubbard 29 NOV 1827), 5. Walter (m. Frances Turner, 28 NOV 1831, they had 4 known children, d. 1855, Franklin Co.) 6. Sally, m. George Hubbard, 26 MAY 1825, Bedford Co., 7. Catharine, m Benjamin Wright, 29 SEP 1831, Bedford Co., 8. Etchison G., m. Mary Ann Foster, dau of Peyton Foster, 2 NOV 1836, 9. Mary, m. Robert Skinnell, 16 MAR 1843, Bedford Co. William LEFTWICH (Uriah, Augustine, Sr., Thomas, Ralph) b. abt. 1774, Bedford Co., m. Ruth Ayers, dau of James Ayers and Hanna (?), 22 Dec 1795, Bedford Co.) This William is the son of Uriah Leftwich and Nancy Keith, he had 6 siblings. Children (they had 8 known and others) of William and Ruth are: 1. Lockey, b. Abt. 1815, m. Martin Johnson, 2. Gabriel, b. Abt 1816, 3. James, b. 1821, 4. Polly, b. Abt 1822, m. Samuel Nichols, 8 JUL 1823, 5. Joel b. ?, 6. Orphey, b. Abt 1830, m. Ammon Burnett, 7. Zelophia, b. Abt 1831, m. Baily Newman, 8. Susan, b. ? Mary "Polly" LEFTWICH - Both of the books cited below place Polly as a child of William and Ruth above. The L-T Book gives the date of her marriage to Samuel Nichols, but not the place. No other information is shown about Polly and Samuel. The above information is from the following books.
