Hi, I just found out that Virginia had death records in 1864. Can someone do me a terrific favor? I am trying hard to find where my great great grandfather died and is buried. His name was Jesse Peter Earles or it could be under Earl. I am coming to Virginia soon but fear there is no time now to do this through the mail. Jesse was born in Pitts Co in 1804, joined the Civil War at age 57 and was even lived through Pickett's Charge at Gettysburg. In late 1864 his military trail ends. He had had a stroke and was very ill. I suspect he died between 1864-1870 near Sandy River where his parents were still living. Any help is deeply appreciated!! Thank you!!! Rickie L.
