Hi Archie, Yes, Sheltons and Taylors are connected. Thanks for your query; you have stirred my interest in the Taylors, which I have not researched very much. BEVERLY SMITH SHELTON,son of ABRAHAM SHELTON and LETTICE SHELTON (dau. of JOHN SHELTON II and ELIZABETH, Abraham married his 2nd cousin) was b.1798 in Pittsylvania, married 1st SIBBY B. TUCKER March 15, 1819,Pittsylvania, had 7 children; 2nd SUSAN POWELL-McKINNEY March 28, 1839 Todd County, KY, had 2 children. BEVERLY SMITH SHELTON was a grandson of GABRIEL SHELTON b.1739 in Middlesex County Virginia or Amelia County, and ELIZABETH SHEPARD. Gabriel and Elizabeth had dau. JANE b.1777 who married JAMES TAYLOR July 25, 1797 in Pittsylvania County. I have no other info on this James Taylor; you think this is the father of MARY TAYLOR? The dates do seem to fit. This branch of Sheltons was in Pittsylvania from Amelia, Middlesex, and Essex-1702,when Gabriel's grandfather RALPH SHELTON was imported 'into the colonies' by THOMAS MERIWETHER. If you learn more of this James Taylor would appreciate you sending my way. Later down my lines my grandmother NELLIE GRACE TAYLOR b.1900 in Todd County married FINIS OLIVER SHELTON b.1894 in Todd. Have traced Nellie Grace Taylor back to JOHN TAYLOR who married SARAH COX, b.Virginia. and there it stops. Am curious if John Taylor and James Taylor are related? Both also mention EDMUND TAYLOR, married MILLICENT (MILLY) SHELTON, dau. of DANIEL SHELTON and LETTICE YOUNG. Daniel being son of RALPH SHELTON. Surely a connection between JAMES TAYLOR and EDMUND TAYLOR. ----- Original Message ----- From: <Holmesatkinson@cs.com> To: <VAPITTSY-L@rootsweb.com> Cc: <jan241@apex.net> Sent: Sunday, May 14, 2000 6:51 PM Subject: Re: VAPITTSY-D Digest V00 #135 > Jan, I notice that in the 1820 census of Pittsylvania co., pg.823, > there is a Beverly s.
