    2. Leota, thank you for your note. Have you found a record (Deed, Will or family Bible?) that states the counties of Pittsy or Hfx? In 1887 when Stephen Terry wrote his family genealogy and made a slight attempt to cover some of the southern Terry's he did so by correspondence. this book " Notes of Terry families by Stephen Terry 1887". A descendant out of your family ,evidently wrote " David Terry was born in Jamestown, Va in 1765 and died in Smith Co, Tn in 1840, he married a REED who was born in Va and died in Smith Co, Tn 1844. He settled in Tn in 1800 and was a farmer. ( all children listed) among them : a son Thomas Jefferson Terry b. 1799 in Va, m/1st in Smith Co. Tn 1 Feb 1824 Maria Doss dau/o Stuart Doss, Maria b 1806 Va and d Oct 1848 in Tn. He m/2nd Eliza Oakley, b Wilson Co, Tn 1820. He was a farmer & lived in Tn until 1853, when he removed to Sherman, Tx." When we find early printed info we must prove or disprove it. I feel you should be looking more deeply into the Smith Co, Deeds, account books and anything else available there before jumping back to Hfx and Pittsy. Smith Co has very good records for TN, of course not one word of this early family tradition may prove true, but you must determine that, before trying to jump back. I say this with the kindest intent, you may have information that I do not. I am aware of a couple of missing David's out of Southside, but we must find some hook to bring them back to the right area of Va. warmest regards, Margie Brown
