I was very interested to see the name MOTLEY in the SHELTON family bible. My 5G grandmother was (possibly) Sarah MOTLEY who married Joab MEADOR sometimer around 1765 in VA either Caroline or Pittsylvania County. Their son William Henry MEADOR was not mentioned in Joab's will and so proving the lineage is difficult and I must go at it from other directions. Joseph David MEADOR, son of William Henry MEADOR married Elizabeth PAYNE in Pittsylvania Co in 1829. Elizabeth PAYNE was the dau. of William PAYNE who was married to Sarah NANCE. Their daughter Sarah PAYNE married Tunstall SHELTON. I have heard that the PAYNES, NANCES, SHELTONS and MOTLEYS were intertwined for quite a long time and would appreciate any insight as to this.
