HUGHES b/abt1817 VA, who married Martha A. NEWBELL/NEWBILL 13 Jan 1851, in Caswell Co., NC. By census records, they lived around the Laurel Grove, of PITTSYLVANIA CO. Their children: Emma "Emily" A b/28 Dec 1851,married Stephen Petty FERGUSON; George W b/a1854; John A b/abt 1856 married Nannie Hughes; William A b/abt 1858; Sallie A b/May 1860 married John E LANIER; Elizabeth b/Feb 1862 & died 2 Mar.1890. Emma "Emily" and Stephen FERGUSON's daughter Bettie Emma married Richard Kirby DIXON, they are my grandparents. Berryman's will dated 14 Apr 1885, he died 15 July 1889 states he is to buried in family graveyard. Couldn't locate homestead or graveyard when in Pittsylvania in 1998. Martha remarried after the death of B.G.to Robert W. Townes 3 May, 1891. Have been searching for any connections to this family for over 10 years. Anyone with any information, please contact me.
