    3. Note found on rootsweb: ROBERT WENTWORTH RAGLAND, son of GIDEON RAGLAND, SR. and NANCY CLOPTON, was born January 20, 1788 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia. He served as Ensign in Pittsylvania militia in the War of 1812 and was Deputy Sheriff of Pittsylvania County from 1814 until 1818, when he removed to Warren County, Kentucky. In Warren County, RAGLAND was a planter and land speculator, and was serving as a Justice of Warren County in 1832. Records show that he and SINAI cohabited for 28 years and had 10 children, but never married: February 23, 1835, RAGLAND petitioned the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky to legitimize his 6 living "illegitimate children by SINAI TAYLOR," to confirm their RAGLAND name, and make them "capable of inheritance in law and equity, to all the lands and tenements, goods and chattels, right and credits of said ROBERT W. RAGLAND, in as full and ample a manner as if they had been severally born in lawful wedlock"; in his will, RAGLAND described her as "the woman living with me, SINAI TAYLOR"; and she signed her own will as "SINAI TAYLOR." SINAI TAYLOR was b. SINAI COX December 22, 1800 in KY; dau. of JOHN P. COX (1758-1832) and SARAH NUNNALLY (1759-1846) who m. December 26, 1777 Henry County, Virginia. SINAI COX 1st m. Strange that SINAI and her sister SARAH 'SALLY' COX b.June 08, 1781 in Virginia and m. JOHN TAYLOR both had sons named WILLIAM C.
