I am trying to find the parents of my gr-gr-gr grandmother, Sarah NEAL who married James SHIELDS on 25 Dec 1823 by the Rev. Griffith Dickinson. Sur. - Abraham NEAL. I've been told that Abraham NEAL (who was married to Ellen SHORT) may be her father but I have found no proof. Sarah NEAL is not listed as a child of Abraham NEAL in the "Beaver Pond Neals of Virginia" book by Carl Neal. In a marriage bond book of Pittsylvania County, I found several other Neals who were also married by the Rev. Griffith Dickinson (who was the minister of Greenfield Baptist Church from 1800-1843 in Gretna, VA).
