    1. [VAPITTSY] MUSTAIN
    2. Beverly Gray
    3. THO. MUSTAIN is supposed the 'Immigrant' as far as I know there are no others of the name who precede him. Mary is generally believed to be at least 2nd generation in VA. her father given as Edward Haley, there is also a claim that they are of the Haley family that formed the basis of Arthur Haley's book 'Roots '. I have not investigated any of this in any depth, i am a direct descendent of Thomas and Mary through their daughter Milly who married JesseeKeesee. There is a great deal of information on-line about these families who established roots in Pittslyvania Co. VA. bev in toronto

No, I never did order them through the VA library. One of the reasons I was looking for copies at that time was to help me sister with her DAR stuff, since then she was able to prove descent from Thomas Madding (and Lazarus Dodson, Rachel's father) with other documentation. I would still be interested in ordering the copies though if you want to do it together. As I recall they are $40 for each record and there are 2 records. Let me know. How do you descend from Thomas & Rachel? Thanks for your message! Dave Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I'm a little new at this ancestry game so, I found all your info extremely interesting. Did you ever spend the $40 on those military certificates you mentioned? If not, I would be willing to help with the costs so that I may get a copy from you. I've learned quite quickly how important documentation is. I'll look forward to hearing from you and hope to compare family information. I'd be happy to share any and all that I have. I looked them up on Rootsweb world connect and that is where I found that John Madding Sr. came from Wales. That is also where I found that John Madding Jr. took the Oath of Allegiance 1777, list of George Carter, Oct 9, 1777. He is in the DAR Patriot Index. I am trying to enter the DAR throught him. I was trying through James Thompson who was married to Sallie Renfro but so far no luck. That is shy I was wooking up William Renfro. I do not know if she belongs to William or Joseph. James Thompson and Sallie Renfro had 12 chilren. I am a Thompson on my mothers side. If you have any information on any of these please let me know and I will send you my e mail address. Thomas Madding 1755 was John Madding Jr., brother. By John Madding Jr. also had a son Thomas Madding and that is who I would have to go through to get into the DAR. Thank you very much for your interest. Bonnie you Cousin Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Joseph HILL (the father) passed sometime before 1813 and Milly BOYD remarried Barksdale RIDDLE in Oct. 1813. She had several more children by Barksdale RIDDLE and that family moved to Spencer Co., IN by 1840. I am trying to find out what happened to Joseph HILL (the father) and what became of Edna HILL (and her husband Zachariah RIDDLE - where did they move?), and Jonathan HILL (who did he marry, where did he move?). It is already known what became of Joseph Hill (the son) and Elizabeth HILL. I'd like to know what became of the other 2 children of this splintered family. I have tried to keep in contact with Frankie through the years. I hope you read this posting, I would like to try more contact with you. I am particularly trying to work on a very sensitive family issue in more modern history. Before Grandma took gravely ill, she introduced my father to some women that may have some type of connection to us. Daddy in turn had one of them contact me and has asked me to help her find answers to questions they both have and to possibly clear up any misinformation that might be out there. Since I have not lived in that area in the time frame involved I find it very hard to help them. I was hoping maybe anyone in the family or anyone from the area may help. There may be "lost family members" involved. As everyone ages it becomes more important to them and time is pressing on. It is entirely possible that there is a long lost family member out there that needs to be reunited. My grandmother's health is! in pretty grave condition at this time. She is now not able to provide any further help though she did try to help by making the connections recently. Needless to say Daddy is dealing with a lot right now. I still have not been able to relocated the picture you asked about, I am hoping that maybe Aunt Doris might be able to find it for me among Grandma's things. I spent a very urgent and quick visit to Danville just last weekend due to Grandma's health crisis. I did try to let Frankie (and through him your mother)know. Please contact me at my private email at lostancestors2@aol.com for additional information. I hope to hold on to as much first-hand family history as we can. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
