    1. [VAPITTSY] Joseph Reynolds and Nancy Ford
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: webcat3 Surnames: Ford Foard Reynolds Featherstone Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.virginia.counties.pittsylvania/3327/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hello: Since I am related to Joseph Reynolds who married Nancy Ford and I'm also related to a family of Ford/Foard who lived in Pittylvania Co VA, I was very interested to find a man named Featherston Foard in the 1810 images of Tax Records in Pittsylvania County. To the best of my knowledge, this Featherston Ford has not been mentioned on the various lists before and I can hardly find anything on him on the internet at all. It seems very likely that he would be the father or brother of Nancy Ford who married in 1803 to Joseph Reynolds. Joseph and Nancy did have a son named Featherson Ford Reynolds born abt 1818, Pittsyl. Co VA. Featherston was one of at least 10 children. I'm hoping to enlist the help of all who are interested in learning more about this Featherston Ford in the 1810 tax list. I see that the spelling of the name Featherson has been in dispute for years. Alternate spellings are of course, Fetherston, Featherstone (like the surname) and Fetherstone. I would have assumed Featherston to have been Nancy's father, but the son named for him is the 6th son born to Joseph and Nancy and I would think a son named for her father might be one of the earlier sons, perhaps Berryman. So I consider that Featherston Ford might be Nancy's brother. All replies welcomed. Debbie Wood Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Their family tradition says that they were related to "Chief" Blackhawk a Sauk Indian of the Blackhawk Wars fame. He was b. in IL near WI border. He later lived just across the Mississippi in Iowa for a while where his people were displaced after the Wars. I know he had , I believe, 3 sons and 2 daughters and I think a biography said all died young except a son and a daughter. I can only find the Indian name for 1 of his sons & I can't remember for sure, but I believe it was Walking Thunder (I know it's got the word Thunder in it for sure). 1. [VAPITTSY] Mosias Jones of Pittsylvania
    2. Mike Sandridge
    3. I am seeking a marriage record or documentation that Mosias Jones was married to Lyddia Clarke. I descend from Buckner Jones (son of Mosias) and Nellie Wilson. Their daughter Rachel Jones married Paskel/Pascal Holt (my line) I have a copy of Mosias Jones WILL and the way it is written and worded does not in anyway protray or indicate that Lyddia Clark as his wife. It does not say what her relationship is to him. In fact, she is listed last in his WILL. His children and grandchildren are listed first. I feel that most likely she was his caretaker in his last days. I have not found a marriage record for them nor have I found a researcher who can provde proof of a marriage between the 2 of them. Here is a transcribed copy of the Will of Mosias Jones: In the name of God Amen: I, Mosias Jones, of Pittsylvania county, state of Virgina, being weak in body but of perfect mind and memory, being sensible that I am near my latter end, do make and ordain this to be my last will and testament. I resign my soul into the hands of Almighty God who gave it, and my body to the earth, to be interred at the discreation of my friends, with the sure and certain hope of the resurrection to eternal life at the last day, and dispose of my worldly goods in the manner and form following: First, I do constitute and ordain Clement Nance to be my executor, who is to get a lawful right and title to my land, whereon I now live, and to sell and dispose thereof, to the best advantage, out of which he must be paid for his trouble and expense. Also I give and bequeath unto my three daughters Susanna Jones, Martha Jones, Dianitia Jones, and my grand-daughter, Henrietta Jones, all the balance of the price of the above mentioned land, to be equally divided between them four. Also I give and bequeath unto my daughter, Elizabeth James, one shilling Sterling. Also I give and bequeath to my daughter, Mary Nance, one shilling Sterling. I also give and bequeath to my daughter, Nancy Lee, one shilling Sterling. I also give and bequeath to my daughter, Wilmith Massey, one shilling Sterling. I also give and bequeath to my son, Buckner Jones, one shilling Sterling. I also give and bequeath to Lydda Clarke, all my houehold goods and kitchen furniture, to be by her possessed at my death. In witness whereof I do hereby set my hand and affix my seal to this my last will and testament, this eighteenth day of August, one thousand seven hundred and ninety-six Mosias M. Jones, [L.S.] Signed, sealed, and acknowledged in the presence of Henry Lansford, Isam Lansford, John May, Samuel Strong Probated October 17, 1796 I have found postings online from other researchers stating that Lyddia Clarke's father was named Buckner Clarke. Also found that she was married to a Joseph Clarke and had a son named Warren. Again this is not proven either. What is their documented proof (paper trail)? According to Stanley Odell, Lydia Clark was was born 1728 Brubswick co VA. She married Mosias Jones 1747 in Lunenburg co VA. Was Clark her maiden name or was she previously married before she married Mosias? Was she his wife or caretaker? Who were her parents? - Source: Postings on Jones message board on genforum.com Stanley Odell also states that Mosias had a first wife named Mourning Harris. I am seeking further information for documented proof if this is a true fact. When were they married? Who were her parents? When and where did she die? He states that Mosias Jones is the son of Mosias Jones and Lucy Foster. Other sources online are conflicting with these facts. Need documented proof to sort what is accurate. There are researchers stating that Foster Jones (son of Mosias Jones and Lucy Foster) was married to a Mourning Harris.- Source: Postings on Jones Message Board on genforum.com Researchers can locate these postings at the following URL: http://genforum.genealogy.com/cgi-bin/search.cgi?forum=jones&url=%2Fjones%2F&path=%2Fjones%2F&terms=mosias&boolean=AND Could anyone shed some light on this? I do not want to just assume what is accurate. I am looking for a definate concrete documentation of a marriage of my Mosias Jones or some kind of document proving who he was married too. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks Mike Genealogy LookUp Forum: Web Site of Genealogy Volunteers.
