It was an interesting coincidence to open my email this afternoon and find another researcher posting on the "SEALS" family surname as just this morning I too was looking for that name in the Pittsylvania/Halifax area of Virginia. Prior to 1770 in the "Entry Record Book of present Virginia Counties of Halifax, Pittsyvania,Henry,Franklin & Patrick" I find on page 81 "JOHN FLETCHER on the sth side of Roanoke River begin: on JOS. SEATS Lower Line thence down the River...." This JOSIAH SEATS born circa 1708 died on December 1, 1761 (will book Lunenburg Co.,VA) leaving his land in Halifax Virginia to his son, Robert Seats. 5 children by wife Martha. Robert Seats, the son, listed as Head of Household/Family in Halifax in the 1785 census. I am mostly interested in this property.... and the FLETCHER line. Nadine Christall Fletcher family researcher and descendant of THOMAS FLETCHER born circa 1762 & wife,Kezia Farris of Halifax Virginia.

Realizing that in 1752 Halifax Virginia was created out of Lunenburg and included land which would be in present day Pittsylvania County, Virginia.. I am seeking more information on: JOHN FLITCHER (1) tithe p.197 of the 1752 Lunenburg Tithes list In 1749 on Aarons Creek John FLETCHER had obtained some land "Footprints of Halifax & Pittsylvania Counties" MARY FLETCHER listed in Halifax County Plea Book No 5 Part 2 "The churchwardens of Antrim Parish Plts vs. Mary Fletcher defendant, in debt. For reasons appearing, suit dismissed." JAMES FLETCHER Halifax Plea Book #6 1776-1770 "JAMES FLETCHER, plaintiff, against Edward Young, in debt" Does anyone know who these Fletcher people were? Any relation to THOMAS FLETCHER b.circa 1762 who married Keziah Farris in 1790 there at Pittsylvania ? Debbie, My gg-grandfather Tazewell Henry Shelton had a brother named George W. who was born in 1840. He married 13 Nov 1857 to Jane Dalton. I know of only 3 children born to this couple and they were all born before 1865 (1858, 1861 & 1863). I have no death date for this George W. He might be the man you listed as KIA 2/17/65.
