Good afternoon, I need the lists help on this one, please. I am searching for the location of John Craddocks farm/plantation in Pittsylvania Co. Va. He gave 150 acres to his wife Mary and another 150 acres to a son in his will, dated 1793. But I just can't get past that. When I've looked at land records in the past, at least the ones I've seen just gives the physical description of the location, such as, "next to P.A. Rawlings, near the split of the creek...ect." Does anyone know how I can actually locate the land location? I want to find it on a map. Thanks in advance. I last find him on the census in Pittsylvania Co. in 1880. He was son of James Henry Lindsey (March 1817, Pittsyl. Co-1910, Pittsylv. Co.) and Mary Catherine Walters. I'm very interested in discovering what became of Joseph Thomas after 1880. I can track most of his siblings, but lose complete track of Joseph Thomas. Also, what became of his children William T., b. June 1875, Sallie Beth, b. Sept. 1877, and Mattie S., b. Nov. 1884, all in Pittsylvania Co.? Would welcome any leads at all on this family, and will gladly share information. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. A major thrust of the campaign is for the village to reconnect with the descendants of families for whom Rockford is an ancestral home. "The campaign offers these descendants a real opportunity to preserve for future generations of their families their heritage and their home," says Ms. Hannah Holyfield, President of the society. "We are going to work with genealogical groups and with ancestry sites on the Internet to reach out to descendants who may have only minimal knowledge about their ancestors' lives here but would like to know more. We plan to contact these descendants and ask them to help us restore the village and then, literally, to come back home." The culmination of the "Remember Rockford" campaign will be a Remember Rockford Families Reunion to be held in 2009. The reunion date will be set in the coming months. Anyone with family ties to Rockford is encouraged to go to rememberrockford.com and register to receive news updates of planned events for the coming months.
