    1. [VAPITTSY] Creasy family Descendants
    2. gerald
    3. Hi, I went out to the old St John's Episcopal Church, which was built in the late 1800's I believe, and took some pictures of the old Creasy Home where Augutus Creasy lived, I was told he built or helped build the Church. I also have a picture of the church. If anyone wants a copy of the pictures I took just email me. I am not related to the Creasy family,I just love to research the history of the town and surronding area. I also have some pictures of what is left of an old Mill that was on Fuzzies Pond?/ I cany remember the name of the old Mill,But I have pictures of what is left which is nothing but big rock walls and a water fall. they are very pretty pictures though. I also have some of Tamahawk Winery which used to be Andersons Grist Mill, I hear it was operational up into the 1980's, I am willing to share those pictures also. Jerry

    3. Hi Jerry, That’s exactly what I’m trying to say. Apparently I didn’t do very well so thanks for the help. And if you run into those neighbors of yours have them contact me. Don -----Original Message----- From: gerald [mailto:shaggy41@pmtnet.net] Sent: Thursday, December 27, 2007 9:56 PM To: Don Bennett Subject: Re: [VAPITTSY] Cumberland Parish book Hi Don, I am not sure if you were telling them they can access heritage Quest from home ,But you can, You just have to use your library card, I believe you need to contact your local Library and ask them the steps you need to take, to get online from your home. I know, I have to go to my Local Library web page, Click on my county, then type in the card number of my library card, and then submit, and scroll down to heritage quest. It is easier than it sounds, I did not know if that was what you were telling us or not, But this is how I do it. Have a great New Year. 3. The Cumberland Parish book is available online through Heritage Quest. Many libraries give their patrons access to Heritage Quest through their online accounts. It’s not quite the same as flipping the pages, but it is accessible. -----Original Message----- From: vapittsy-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:vapittsy-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Doris Christian Sent: Wednesday, December 26, 2007 6:21 PM To: VABEDFOR-L@rootsweb.com; VAPITTSY-L@rootsweb.com; VAMECKLE-L@rootsweb.com; VALUNENB-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [VAPITTSY] Cumberland Parish book CUMBERLAND PARISH Lunenburg County, Virginia 1746‑1816 Vestry Book By LANDON C. 3. Gang, In the last few months, a number of folks have been accidentally unsubscribed from this mailing list. Normally, the main reason that somebody may be unsubscribed is excessive bounces of list mail to the subscription address. Other times, an address seems to be unsubscribed for no apparent reason. If you are unsubscribed and you believe that it's an error, please hit the reply button (when you are notified that you are unsubscribed) and let me know and I'll put you back on. I'll be on the lookout for these types of messages. Thanks for your patience! Tom listadmin, VAPITTSY

I have found info that shows Williams father as James Taylor and Mary "Polly" Wooding but the date of their marriage and the birth date I have for William seem like this is not the correct family for him. I have a birth date for him of 1782 which is 6 years before the 05 May 1788 marriage date for William and Polly. I would certainly appreciate any help on this line. I am descended down through William and Jinsy's daughter Mary Jane Taylor. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 1. [VAPITTSY] Creasy Family Info
    2. gerald
    3. Hello, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year !!! I was wondering if there were any Creasy Family Researchers out there, that would be connected to the Creasy Family of the Town of Gretna Va, Which at one time was called Elba, and I believe at one time called The Junction or a Train Stop was called the Junction. I visited the old Creasy Home this past weekend, and got some pictures of the Home and Cemetery with shots of Thomas C Creasy's headstone, and a couple others. In 1881 Thomas C Creasy purchased some land to build the Market Place from Jeremiah Talbot, which I think is the land the shopping center sets on at the intersection of 40 and main Street in Gretna, Thomas C Creasy had to go to court and fight to be able to build his building because of an earlier provision in the original land deed between Talbot and Hunt Tardy, that No more land could be sold by Talbot for mercantile business, The deed to Creasy from Talbot took cognizance of this provision, ("When Creasy began work on his building, Tardy institued court proceedings; The court ruled in favor of Creasy, had the court ruled in Tardy's favor Gretna would probably not be here today") The last statement is from a quote from the internet from The History of Pittsylvania County from Rootsweb.com/Va/Pittsylvania/County. I will share the pictures if anyone from the Creasy Family would like them. The photos are mine, I took them myself while touring the Creasy Family Home now called the Lafayette House, I may have this name miss spelled. I am also interested in anyone with knowledge to all the old homes and historical sites in the Gretna Chatham and surrounding area, that could guide me for a picture taking day. I just want to go and take pictures of all the historical sites around the area, I live just outside of Gretna and would drive if anyone wants to either give me directions or spend the day driving and taking pictures. Thanks for your time,Just give me a holler if you want copies of the pictures mentioned in this email. I will send as attachments. Bye 4 now, have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!! Jerry

Even though the information you have is some 90 years later, I am curious if any Dixon/Dixsons were enlisted in that if they were, that information might give some new leads to follow as to where they came from in the first place.
