    1. [VAPITTSY-L] Jesse Doss and Rachel Brooks
    2. McLees
    3. Hi Karen: Are you sure that Jesse and Rachel are the parents of George K. Doss. George K. Doss and Mary Ann Dalton are my gg grandparents. Mary Ann Dalton Doss and children moved to Clinton County, Ohio, in the 1860's. I don't know what happened to George K. Doss. Their son Henry Clay Doss is my great grandfather. According to Libbie (Doss researcher) she believes that Jesse and Rachel may not have been the parents of George K. and Amy and another daughter. She believes that John Doss and Ann (Amy) Keesee had a daughter named Rachael Doss that never married, and that she is the mother of George K. Doss. I was trying to figure out who were really George's parents: Jesse Doss and Rachel Brooks or Rachel Doss that never married, (if their is a Rachel Doss that never married). That's why I sent out the query on Jesse and Rachel to see what childrens names others had. Let me know what you think. In the will of John Doss, he leaves to his daughter Rachel, but he may have been talking about his daughter in-law and just said daughter since his son Jesse may have already passed away. Rachel is eventually declared deranged and committed by her children. Thanks for your help. Kathy

    2. Hello, Mary Leigh and Pittsylvania County list: I am new to the group, but, have had opportunity to meet Mary Leigh at the Danville, Virginia library last August, while there researching. My name is Sandra Farney, of Oklahoma, and am a KEESEE descendant and have ancestors from Pitts. Co. Perhaps there are others already listed, of our KEESEE family. I did want to take this opportunity to share about our website and the reunion that is coming up in June, in Pitts. Co. area. The website is: www.keesee.org and links to Pitts. Co. information are mentioned throughout. We invite the community to join us and we are excited about visiting there again. We do look forward to having Mary Leigh speak at our reunion, as well as Dr. Vincent KEESEE, who has authored two family books and drafting his third. Thanks, for letting me take a moment to share, Sandra sfarney@webzone.net

What I have been told was that the Indians returning to their villages from distant hunting grounds with their venison and other wild game, would find that the game got gamier and gamier as the days passed, going from stinking to lousy to magotty. 2. Please note that I have changed my Internet Service Provider. My e-mail address is the same except that the ISP is now Juno instead of AOL. i.e., my new address is jnhelewis@juno.com. Still searching for ancestry of Royall King LEWIS, b. c1804, son of George and Elizabeth LEWIS. He married Lucy LEWIS, b. c 1805, d/o Sarah LEWIS who gave consent. They resided in Pittsylvania County, VA. Can't determine which George Lewis, nor find anything on Elizabeth, but Royall listed them as his parents on his second marriage. Neither can I determine who Lucy's father was or anything else about Sarah. Lucy had a sister named Wilmouth who married William Lewis and again, Sarah Lewis gave consent. In both Lucy and Wilmouth's marriage, Thomas MADDING was the surety. Any help in piecing this puzzle together will be very much appreciated. Janelle 'n Howard E. Lewis
