    3. Hello All, Please be aware that the online version of the 1850 census is incomplete -- several great people are working hard to have the entire 1850 census online eventually. In Mike K. Williams' transcription (1850) I see: John Holligan, 30, miller; Elizabeth, 50; Elizabeth, 20; Elick (m), 15; ARTER, Berry (m), 16, laborer; ARTER, Sally, 14. 2. Geraldine Miller
    3. If anyone has the 1840 & 1850 census for Pittsylvania County I would really appreciate a look-up for my HALLIGAN. My Elizabeth Ann HALLIGAN wasn't born until 1843 VA. There is a Saml. D. HOLIGAN, Elizabeth HOLLAGAN, & another Elizabeth HOLLIGAN listed in a 1840 index. I don't find these people listed in the 1850 census index that was searched. Could someone give me the date on these 3 families in Pittsylvania 1840 & check again to see if they are listed in the 1850 census. Thanks a bunch. Geraldine in MO

    3. Richard, You can send an inquiry to the listowners of the respective lists by sending e-mail to NCCASWEL-admin@rootsweb.com and NCROCKIN-admin@rootsweb.com You can have them check to see if you're still subscribed and whether the lists are seeing traffic -- the listowners should have receive copies of your attempts at posting (as errors) and so should be responsive to what you're trying to do. Two of these lists receive a regular post of the obituaries printed in their weekly local paper. It is a "random act of genealogical kindness" I have personally benefited from and would like to provide for this list. Listed below are the obits from the Star-Tribune for 4/26/2000. Alta Vista Journal and Danville Register and Bee will follow in a separate posting. Please contact me "off list" if you would like a copy. 3. Hello Sue, I am new to this list but hopefully can help you a little on Edward Wade. In the DAR Patriot Index, the Edward Wade Sr, b. about 1727 and died 1790 in GA is the father of Lucy Wade who married Bryan Ward Nowlin. During the Depression, in the 1930s, the WPA catalogued many of the old homes in Pittsylvania County. A copy of those records can be found at the VA-NC Piedmont Genealogical Society Room in the Danville Public Library. One such home was that of Edward Wade Sr. Curiously, the WPA record refers to him as an Indian Scout and hunter. Melanie Dalton Crain
