Tina, I read Tom's reply as to the location of Leemont. There are also books listing the names of the people buried in the cemetery. I have seen them at Bassett Historical Society in Bassett, VA. I have a list of names from Book 27 of the Mixed Probate Records of Pittsylvania County, VA. This covers the time period 1863-1864. Some of these records were practially illegible, but I was usually able to at least verify the name of the person involved. It is basically an index with a few names added in some cases. These are Accounts Current books which have inventories, appraisments, divisions of land, guardian accounts, etc. They are not deeds or wills. I don't have the data from the records. I don't have the "books". If you would like to have a copy of the list you can email me and I will paste it to an email and send it to you. This list will probably be uploaded to the Pittsylvania County home page and to the Archives since other lists have been, if you would rather wait and read it there. William Quinn enters 400 acres on the head of Sandy Creek adjoining Evan Stokes upper line where run through the Branches, also 400 acres on the Rocky Branch adjoining Jasper Billings lines. November 26, 1772 Wm. Quinn bought 153 acres from Henry Clay ( Grantee Index 3-113), paid 35 pounds 6 shillings. This land had been granted to Henry Clay from King George III. Witnessed by George Carter, James Burton and Edmund Fallon. In 1782 Pittsylvania Co. va. included the following: William Quinn--12 white, John Quinn--4 white and Joseph Quinn-- 9 White November 4, 1806, John Quinn bought land for 40 pounds from Charles Blakely. Witnessed by Adin Gray, Thomas Easlely, Clement Pigg and William Quinn . Tax lists in 1809 listed Wm. Quinn and William Quinn, jr. in Pittsylvania County, Va. February 16, 1807 john Quinn bought land from Charles Blakely ( Grantee Index 15 - 261) July 31, 1809 Wm. and Ann Quinn sold to Cutbird Price 205 acres for 125 pounds. Witnesses were John Conner, Richard Keats, Wm.'s Price and John Fowlkes .February 20, 1809 William Quinn married Nancy Wright. The bondsman was Thomas Wright - father. MY QUESTION---- Was the William Quinn of 1768 the father or grandfather of William who married Nancy Wright? Where did the 1768 William live before he came to Pittsylvania County. In Chronicles of the Scotch -Irish Settlement in Va. by Chalkley, Vol. II, the Muster of Augusta County Va in 1742, Captain John Buchanans list included WILL QUINN.
