He was born Feb. 24, 1885 in Edgar Co., IL, and died Jan 16, 1968. His parents were John Cook and Mattie Roberts. John Cook's parents were James Sanford Cook and Rachel Lamon. I see no direct connection between your Harmon and my Harmon other than the name, but I don't know where James Sanford Cook came from. If you have any info, I would be eternally grateful. Thanks.

Kendrick, To some of you that already know me, and know that I am working on a major project on the Civil War Veterans of my family. I am looking for any names or information on the families listed above that served in the Civil War. I thought it was time to find out more information about the people in my family tree which contains in excess of 25,000 members now. So I decided to focus on the men of the Civil War before there is no one left that may have heard stories, have photos etc of the family that served in the war.Over the past 2 months I have visited at least 20 different Battle Fields just in Virginia. Gettysburg will be in September. At present I have 21 members that served in the war in units such as the 21st, 38th, 42nd, and 57th Virginia Infantries. I have been visitng all of the Battle Fields that these units saw action to take photographs, talk to park rangers, and going everywhere possible gathering as much information as I possibly can. I have 18 pages of typed information right now, and I expect the report to grow to at least 70 or more pages when completed. When the report is completed it will be sent to Bassett, Danville Genealogy Department to be kept on file. I will also forward it to any member of the family who wants to add it as a permanent part of the Family Tree. I look forward to hearing from anyone who can assist me in this massive project, and I greatly appreciate any help I can receive in this matter. As always, I will be glad to share any information to anyone in the family search if I can. Respectfully Yours, Michael D. Kendrick 10424 Genito Rd. 1. [VAPITTSY-L] Broderbund Census Information
    2. Hey Gang, We all need to inform our fellow researchers of Broderbund's census information. 1) At GenealogyLibrary.com, the 1810 census information they present transposes the male and female columns. By that I mean, the first five numbers they show are for females, the second five numbers are for male. This is contrary to the actual census reports that list the males in the first five columns and the females in the second five columns. 2) I just learned today that Broderbund's CD312, Census Index for Selected US Counties, 1800, also has the male and female columns transposed. As a result of these findings, I would consider any Broderbund products that list census reports from 1800 to 1840 to be suspect at best. Please pass this information on to your fellow researchers. I sent an e-mail to Broderbund when I found the errors in the 1810 index, I received no response. This does not make their information useless, you simply have to reverse the columns. Rick Monroe

    2. Bonnie Reach
    3. The Hanks family had 2 connections to my family. In Halifax Co., VA, 1792 My Martin True married Mary Hill, who had hanks in-laws. In Yalobusha Co., MS in 1835, Eli Hanks,(born KY) son of George, married Mariah Hardin, sister of my g-grandmother, Jannet Hardin Hudson. All these people from MS went to Texas to the area that then comprised Shelby Co., Texas (now several counties). While there, they were involved in the Regulator-Moderator War 1842-1844. My Martin True went with Hill and hanks relatives to Pulaski Co., KY and on to Maury Co., TN. Are any of these Hanks the ones you seek? 2. Tom Jones
    3. Cindy, When Gayle switched over her query system to GenConnect, she switched over her surname list as well. The list of surnames being researched used to have its own section on the Pittsylvania Co. webpage, but they're all lumped in together on GenConnect. So, instead of submitting a list of surnames to Gayle for addition to the surname list, they just go to the GenConnect query page, thence to this mailing list. Hope this isn't too confusing.
