If not, why don't you upload it to one of the free genealogy forums. Since we all have kin in Pittsylvania and Henry Counties, it would be a great help to all of us. Also if you have a problem getting it scanned in, I'll be glad to help you with that or I can make digital pictures for you. I only live a hop, skip, and jump from Chesterfield. Rasberry

    2. Wow! that could really be confusing. The Robert Dalton is Agatha [ or Agithy] father, Solomon Dalton is her brother. Without a connection in the documentation, I fear we cannot that the James Mitchell is Agatha's or Winifreds. Such are the pitfalls of genealogy! Happy Familying Laura Irby

    3. Posted on: Pittsylvania Co. Va Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Va/Pittsylvania/319 Surname: Adkins, Clark, Hensley, Kendrick, Reynolds ------------------------- Hello Everyone, First of all thank you so very much for everyone who has provided any information on the Civil War project I'm working on. I have now located 74 of my direct family members mostly from Pittsylvania County and a few out of Franklin and Henry Counties. I have compiled a history of the men their units and most of the Battles and Engagements the men saw action at. At present I have 105 pages of data finished, and have enough photographs for at least 10 to 15 pages. I have traveled from one end of the state to the other visiting over 50 different battlefields over the past 5 months. I have added a supplement to add over 200 other non-family Civil War vets from Pittsylvania, Franklin, and Henry Counties. I would still greatly accept any information or stories of the men who served so gallantly. Also would love to see if any other people have photographs of any men from Pittsylvania County in their Civil War Uniforms. I hope to have every thing completed to be printed by the end of October, so if you have any information you would like to share and have it added to this, Please forward the data to me so it can be added. All information provided is being placed in the project with the person who provided the information with full credit for being so generous. P.S. Civil War Trivia:: Over 200 major battles and Engagements were fought on Virginia Soil... Respectfully Yours, Michael D. Kendrick 10424 Genito Rd. 3. Sorry about the sentence concerning the suit of SAMUEL HARRIS, JR. son of minister, being so confusing as to whom the pronouns refer. The children in the suit were those of the grandchildren of the minister and sons of SAMUEL, JR., and they ARE NOT THE SAME NAMES AS THE CHILDREN OF the SAMUEL WHO MARRIED NANCY OVERTON. Hope this clarifies the sentence. MLB

    3. I tried to post an article I wrote for VA/NC Piedmont Lineages about the TWO SAMUEL HARRISES in Pittsylvania County which proves through courthouse documents that the SAMUEL who married NANCY OVERTON in CHARLOTTE CO VA and then MOVED TO PITTSYLVANIA CO is NOT the son of the persecuted Baptist Minister. His family has completely different set of names for children and they are in the suit filed to settle the son of the minister's estate which disposes of the minister's property. I scanned the article and sent it to Martha Rior who had posed the question. Interested people can contact her for the article. MaryLeigh

    3. Joe, I had many of the same question you did about James Mitchell and set out a couple of years ago to see what the records said. I ended up with a collection I've never had the time to assess. Can you tell me where James went to in KY and when? It could be very important information. For what it's worth, here is some of what I found in the Virginia records. Would like to know what you have on this family; I have more, but this seemed plenty for now. Melanie Crain *This may be James' father--no proof: Magazine of Virginia Genealogy Vol. 25 No. 1 Feb 87 Patent Bk 17 mag pg 56 James Mitchel, 150 a Brunswick Co, on Flatt Cr (p 265). 17 Mar 1736 Vol. 24 No. 4 Nov 86 Patent Bk 17 mag. pg 71 (p. 123) John Robertson, 150 a Brunswick Co, S. side of Roanoke R., bounded by James Matthew on the R & James Mitchel. 20 Jul 1736 Pittsylvania Co. Deed Book, Grantor¹s Index: for James Mitchell All records below were checked and they seemed to indicate that there were two James Mitchells in 18th c. Pittsylvania Co.
