Black-on-white background typing was found a century ago (or more) to be the easiest to read and understand. What's with the current fashion of light blue-on white background for emails sent? It hurts my eyes, and is hard to read. Insufficient contrast. Gordon Adams: GorAdams@aol.com

Judith, Would you please share your verification that Judith Dill was not the wife of Abraham Aaron, Sr.? I descend from Abraham Aaron and am very interested in this info. As for Sarah Philpott, I, also descend from her. She was the daughter of John Philpott ( - ~1761) m. Mary Glover ( - ~1766). She was orphaned at the age of 10 years old. It is estimated that the mother of John Philpott's first 2 children was his first wife (name unknown). They were: David Philpott (b. 1746 in MD, d.1781 in NC) and John Philpott (b.~1750 in MD, d.1822 in VA). Mary (Glover) Philpott, his second wife, was the mother of: Charles Thomas Philpott (b. 20 Nov 1753 MD, d.1836 in VA), Sarah Warren Philpott (b. 5 Jan 1756 MD, d. 184_ VA), Zachariah Philpott (b. 20 Dec 1758 MD, d. Nov 1836 KY), and Samuel Philpott (b.~1762 MD, d.~1838 TN). This info. is from MEET YOUR ANCESTORS: The Descendants of Edward Philpott (1597-1698), ........compiled by Noland (Hubbard) Bowling. Glen, Hey, it's me, Cindy Headen. I just wanted to say that I know my ancestors were in the Whitmell, Va area. This would be Household #596 Vincent and Letty Shelton. I know that this isn't much info., but maybe it will give you an idea of the location in the county. In the 1900 Census, the area was in the Tunstall District. I agree. I've been a block reader all of my life--well, almost. I was reading by the time I was 3. To me, all caps is just a confusing array of shapes. I almost can't understand it, having to read it one letter at at time. Hello,Tamara, I am a descendant of James A. Riddle, md. Nancy Eanes 14 April 1823 in Pittsylvania County, VA. Nancy's father Edward Eanes b. May 2, 1761 Chesterfield County, VA md. April 1, 1782 in Charlotte County, VA, Jane Sublett. I believe this Edward Eanes was a brother of Arthur Eanes, b. abt. 1760, according to my information. Is this your Arthur Washington Eanes, Sr., who you say married Nellie Murray 1783-85?? Is the other Arthur Washington Eanes his son? I have an undocumented note that Arthur W. Eanes (Jr.?) md. Elizabeth Riddle June 5, 1819? You say June 5,1802, which I wouldn't debate, my source is very weak. Note also states his mother was "Elinor Eanes", surety by Thomas Riddle. This "Elinor" must the same as your Nellie Eleanor Murray. Benjamin Riddle made a will January 29, 1812. (Deed & Will Book 11, page 374, Pittsylvania County) He listed 8 children, including Elizabeth. But this could not be the Elizabeth md. Arthur W. Eanes IF they were married in 1802. If the marriage was actually 1819, it could be. Benjamin also refers to his wife, Nancy, and to his father Zachariah Riddle. So if this IS your Elizabeth, her line goes back through Benjamin Riddle and Zachariah Riddle. Important to know how certain you are of the 1802 marriage date. That would seem to make him 16-18 years of age at marriage, not out of the question, but somewhat uncommon for the time. I'd love to know how this ties in with your own information. Glad to share anything I have, most of which is not very well organized! :) Norma Riddle Helms
Posted on: Pittsylvania Co. Va Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Va/Pittsylvania/364 Surname: Still, May ------------------------- John, I stated in a previous e-mail to VAPITTSY that this John Still, who is probably a brother to Thomas Still, was married to Elizabeth. Elizabeth is identified in Chancery Court records, book 28, page 301 (16-Aug-1830) as the widow of John Still. She relinquished her right of administration of her husband's estate to husband to James Still and George May (son and son-in-law, respectively). James Still and George May were also named the administrators of Elizabeth's estate on 19-Nov-1838 (book 34, page 272). If John Still died pre- 16-Aug-1830, he could not be alive in Hickman Co., TN in 1840. Tom

Does anyone know if the Stills in Pittsylvania Co., VA were related to the ones in Buckingham Co., VA? In 1773 and 1774 there was a Thomas Still, William Still and Henry Still in Buckingham Co. and on the 1800 Tax List there was a Jacob, John and William Still. I am trying to determine the parents of Keziah Still born 1771 in Buckingham Co. She married William Phelps but don't know where or when they married. They moved to Logan Co., KY sometime before 1820. Hope someone can connect these Still families. Ann Wallace
