I'm looking for my Grandmother's home town and where she is buried. She was married to Arthur Joseph Eanes, they moved to Newnan, Ga. to work in another mill" Arnco Mills". This would have been in 1926 maybe. Anyway after a while they were divorced and she went back to where her people were. She was in a wheelchair, so she had to have someone to look after her. I know my Dad came from a place called Spray,N.C.,if that will help. Thank You Libby

Surnames: Owen, Cobb, Pruitt (Prewitt), Richardson, Stevens, Green Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/3AC.2ACE/1475 Message Board Post: I am a descendent of Harrison G. & Mary Owen of Halifax Co. on my paternal grandmother's side. H.G. & Mary were the parents of Berta S. Owen who married Thomas S. Tombes(Toombs) and had 2 daughters, Rosa Averett (my grandmother) and Mary Lee. I was at the family cemetery week before last and the land it rests on is for sale. I just discovered this connection - my last aunt, Rosa, told me of going to clean this cemetery years (50+) ago. I knew of the Owen line but was not prepared for Granville Owen (22 Feb 1813 - 26 Dec 1875), Thomas Green (7 Apr 1831- 13 Mar 1901), Dona Green (illegible) and the 3 Stevens' brothers - George W., Thomas D. & Robert W. - who were veterans of Co. F 53rd VA Regt. INF. After I left the cemetery, I went to the Courthouse but the Owen family had NUMEROUS legal difficulties after the Civil War. Our (Richardson) Family Bible includes a discription of Mary A. Owen's death but the marriage rscords in Halifax indicate she may have been a Cobb but ! you'll seem to say she was an Owen. I would like more info on this line as there are MANY Owen families in Halifax & Pittsylvania and many of them appear to come from John Owen of Prince Edward County. Sons of John also settled in Pittsylvania. Lucy Owen married Samuel Pruitt 2 but I believe she is the daughter of Samuel Owen who died before 1754 in Frederick Co. MD, where the Pruitts were from, and a Samuel Pruitt is named in the inventory of Samuel Owen & there is no record of their marriage in Chatham. Possibly a brother to John Owen of Prince Edward but I would need to look at the MD records to know for sure. My Families 19th Century burying ground is on land originally surveyed for William Owen around Kentuck and my 3rd Gr grandmother was Lucy Owen. Does this connect w/ anyone? Any info would be appreciated. Thanx, Eric Richardson

Christopher was the only one to leave VA, and apparently he ended up in Larue Co. KY because his uncle, Spillsby Coleman, brother of Elizabeth, was living there. I later found land grants in that area under the name of Daniel Coleman, probably one of the Daniel Colemans that were Elizabeth's and Spillsby's ancestors in VA. Linda

Does anyone on this list have or know of deeds on Flag Spring branch, Frying Pan Creek, or Pigg River? Flag Spring is a branch of Frying Pan, which is a branch of Pigg River which flows into now Smith Mountain Lake and lies in Pittsylvania County (formerly Halifax, formerly, Lunenburg, formerly Brunswick). Period of interest is approximately 1736 to 1800. I am interested in any surnames, but especially Caldwell, Colwell, Chadwell, Rogers, Rodgers. Carmen J. Finley

They had a number of children, including Nancy(m Mr Dowdy 2. John Milllender) , John "Jack", Winifred (m James Burke(s)), Lemuel C (m Martha Lester Patterson), Jane (spinster, livng with mother in 1860 census), Chrsitopher (m Frances Keatts), Robert (m Louisa Mitchell). There is another always near the household of those listed, but he may be related to Robert as either younger brother or son from a previous marriage. His name was Royal Walker. I'd like to find the parents of said Robert Walker m Nancy Colbert 1809 (d/o Lemuel Colbert and Phebe Blankenship). He's a brick wall. I come from Lemuel's son, Thomas Colbert. Lemuel is also a brick wall. While one census of Thomas Colbert lists his parents as being born in England, Phebe was born in Winfall, Campbell Co VA, or perhaps in Chesterfield, before her father, Hudson Blankenship, moved to Campbell Co VA). However, I know she wasn't born in England. I have a hunch that Thomas' father,Lemuel, died very early in the life of Thomas and he may have had no idea where his father was from. But he should have known his mother's family as they weren't far away. Any info on Robert Walker appreciated, if anyone knows! They would have been in northern Pittsylvania Co. VA
