The WILL of MATTHEW SANDEFUR In the name of god amen I Matthew Sandefur of the county of Floyd and State of Virginia being in delicate health but of sound disposing mind and memory do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and for following First I desire that my Executors here in after named do sell my two tracts of land in the County of Patrick for the best price they can get on a reasonable credit and out of the proceed there of first pay my just debts and the surplus if any put out at lawful interest for the benefit of my wife and daughter Elizabeth Jane Secondly I give and gequeath to my wife Mary all the balance of my Estate both real and personal during her life or widowhood and after her death I give the same to my daughter Elizabeth Jane and also one jundred dollars to my daughter America H. Goodson because she was the only one of my first children who was not opposed to my second marriage and in case my wife shall marry I then desire that my estate (there were 4 words written and crossed out here) go to my said daughter Elizabeth Jane and after the death of my wife then her majority? of the estate to revert back to my said daughter Elizabeth Jane so that her second husband shall have no control over the same as to the payments of his debts or otherwise Lastly I hereby constitute and appoint my friends Col. Joseph Harvard and Col. Stuart is the father of J.E.B. Stuart of Civil War fame. James and George Goodson were (I believe) related to his second wife. After having been cut out of the will, the children of the first marriage migrated westward and settled around the Va., Ky., Tenn. borders.
