    3. World record for age of ancestor (loosely defined to include uncles, aunts, etc.) this probably is record holder. Some 9,000 yro male skeleton in the West Country in England had enough intact in the dental pulp for a proper analysis of the mitochondrial DNA. Researchers, not expecting anything much but you never know, did some DNA analysis of local residents and found one man whose mitochondrial DNA matched. It looks as if therefore this skeleton was the living man's n-times-great uncle.
