Pilson's "Patrick Co., Va., Deed Index Abstracts, 1791-1850," and found two Andersons in Patrick Co. before 1870. ANDERSON, Nathaniel (by Clerk), to STAPLES, Abram et al. Tax Deed dated 1 Apr 1835, Book 8, p. 501. PHILLPOTT, Adison to ANDERSON, Allen. Deed dated 13 Oct 1831, Book 8, p. 11. Sounds like your grandmother knew what she was talking about.
