    3. Laura: There are no Andersons in my family; however when I read your message, I picked up Barbara C. Baughan and Betty A. Pilson's "Patrick Co., Va., Deed Index Abstracts, 1791-1850," and found two Andersons in Patrick Co. before 1870. ANDERSON, Nathaniel (by Clerk), to STAPLES, Abram et al. Tax Deed dated 1 Apr 1835, Book 8, p. 501. PHILLPOTT, Adison to ANDERSON, Allen. Deed dated 13 Oct 1831, Book 8, p. 11. Sounds like your grandmother knew what she was talking about. You might want to request copies of these deeds from the Patrick Co. Courthouse. Good luck! Mary C.
