HELP!!!! My SAR Application has just been "set aside" until I can definitely prove that my great, great, great grandfather Joseph MOLES was definitely the son of Jeremiah MOLES, SR. (SAR is saying that the DAR application for an individual done 25 years ago listing Joseph as the son of Jeremiah MOLES, Sr. is not proof enough because Joseph's brother John MOLES was the DAR applicant's direct ancestor and therefore Joseph's relationship to his father was not checked or proven.) This is what I know! Joseph MOLES was born about 1777, most probably in Rockingham County, VA. His wife was Jane GINCY and she must have died before 1842 since she was not named in her husband's will. Joseph MOLES made his will on February 23, 1842 (Patrick County, VA, Will Book 3, Page 240). His bequests included: three shillings each to his grandchildren, Jeney Ann and Sally BRANCH; one dollar each to son Samuel MOLES, son James MOLES, daughter Nancy BOLLING, daughter Mary MOLES, balance of estate to daughter Caty MOLES who was also named executrix of the will. Witnesses were: James VIA, Jesse CORN, Marshall WAID, and America H. WAID. Caty MOLES made bond and was granted a certificate of probate at the October 1842 term of Patrick County Court. Does any one of the fine people on this Patrick County list have anything that will concretely help me prove that Jeremiah MOLES Sr. was indeed the father of Joseph MOLES? Does anyone know where the marriage record for Joseph MOLES and Jane GINCY might be found (hoping against hope it might list HIS parents!). I know that Jeremiah MOLES, Sr. died in Patrick County about 1825. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Carlisle Bowling e-mail Zarvon@aol.com
