Content-type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII Content-transfer-encoding: 7bit Eileen, I'll tell what I think. 1. Mary, Agnes, and Mary Agnes Parsons are one and the same. Richard Parsons is her father. 2. I have seen Joseph Parsons listed as father of Richard. I think there was an error made in the pension application. 3. I think dates were picked up wrong and reported wrong for John Midkiff's and Mary Agnes Parsons birth dates. I think the Johns you discuss are one and same. What do you think? James M. Midkiff >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> "PITTSYLVANIA CO. VA. WILLS; 1767-1820" page 503; 14 Oct. 1818; Pr: Jan. 1819 "LWT Joseph Smith being in a low state of health but of perfect mind and memory." "To John Midkiff Jr. The whole of my estate consisting of a tract of land on the waters of White Thorn, a cow and calf, a bed and furniture with all other articles I possess." "JOSEPH (X) SMITH" "Wit. Elisha Walden, John Midkiff, Sr., Mary (x) Midkiff" "Presented in Court 21 Oct. 1820 by John Midkiff Sr. with William Clark as his security." PITTSYLVANIA MARRIAGE RECORDS indicate: "10 Sept. 1782. John Midkiff and Mary Parsons. Married by Rev. John Bailey. pg. 4" I find it difficult to believe an 'official document' such as a Federal application for pension, would make such an overt error in birth data and marriage records, particularly where money is concerned. Have you read the 'pension' application? His wife also filed for 'widow's pension' in 1841. As of 1830, census indicate John was living in Patrick co. which is where he filed from.
