    3. Since we all seem to be going deeper "into the Woods", let me throw this at you and we can all wander around lost together. I began researching about 10 yrs ago because my mother, father (his grandparents were 1st cousins), husband (and ex husband) all descend from this famous Richard Wood. My two children are saturated with Wood blood. It hasn't seemed to hurt any...they are both highly intelligent and great looking, too. Anyway, I got to Dr. Wood's book and already had some info gathered by my ancestor Lewis Wood and my gr grandfather, Alec Wood. My daughter got me FTM for Christmas a couple years back and I set to work. I entered abt 2,000 Woods and inlaws and loaded it on the web. Well, of course, I listed Stephen Wood and Ann Johnson as the 1st generation. Then I got a phone call from a very nice lady in PA, Virginia Wood Eisen, PhD. Seems she had done extensive Wood research for quite some years and had very good documentation (which my sources did not have). She is descended from Stephen and Ann's son, John. He left Lunenburg and went to TN. He died there and left a will. She sent me a copy and some other things. She convinced me that this John is not ours. I have been searching since. I am consumed by this thing. Sometimes, I doubt many other parts of the story. It is hard to imagine that a young woman in her twenties (Lucy) would marry a widower with 12 children and then give birth to 6 more with a man in his 70's. If true, no wonder she died at 40. Two have almost sent me over the edge. I know that in 1935 they begin to have a Wood General Reunion at Lover's Leap park in Patrick Co. In abt 1939, they erected the monument to Richard and the 4 wives. My gr grandfather took part in these reunions. They were very big affairs. Could it be that much of what we have was guessed at by the gr grandchildren of the 1930's? The recorded marriage and death dates do not match the tombstones. Dr. Wood lists a son, Henry, in Stephen's will. It is not in the will. Lewis Wood says Richard was born in Bedford. Sparrell said in his memorial, Lunenburg. I hope that those of you who are interested will help me search for the ancesstors of Richard and Rachel.
