I'm a descendant of four Patrick Co. families: the SHARPs, the LYONs, the McALEXANDERs, & the BURNETTs. My g-g-grandfather was Samuel SHARP (b. ca. 1801-4; d. 1849 in Van Buren Co., MO), who married Frances Thurman LYON (ca. 1808-after 1860), daughter of William and Milly (McALEXANDER) LYON. William was the s/o William & Frances "Salley" (THURMOND) LYON from Amherst Co. (the part that later became Nelson Co.); Milley the d/o John & Agnes "Nancy" (BURNETT) McALEXANDER. I've been trying for some time -- and without success -- to determine who the parents of Samuel SHARP were. There were lots of SHARPs in Patrick Co. around about that time. Clues head in the direction of Robert & Philipena (SHELTON) SHARP, mainly because Samuel SHARP stood surety for the marriage of one of their daughters, Lucy, to Samuel GILBERT. I have just sent away to the Patrick Co. Courthouse for some deeds that I hope will help to clarify the relationships; but if anyone happens to have any info on this family, I'd love to receive it. I have some data about the daughters (Lucy, Sarah "Sallie", Frances, Louvenia, & probably Jane & "Nancy" Martha) of Robert & Philipena SHARP, but so far have not discovered any likely son except possibly Samuel.
