The Enterprise, is a weekly newspaper issued from Stuart VA and is full of Patrick County news. Birth announcements, Wedding and engagement announcements, Obituaries and other stories are great for Patrick Co. genealogy. There is no Richard Wood monument that I know of, other than his tombstone, which reads as follows: Richard Wood (FATHER DICKEY), Pioneer of Wood's Gap, b 1772 d 1856. (According to the marker, Richard is buried in the middle, with a wife on either side, and one at the head, and one at the foot.) Rachel Cockram Wood, Wife #1, Mother of 8 children: Henry, German, Alexander, Peter, John R., Jeremiah, Edward and Ann, She died 13 Dec. 1823. Fannie Brammer Wood, Wife #2, No children, d 30 Aug. 1830. Elizabeth DeHart Wood, Wife #3, Mother of 4 children: Preston, Jackson, Dollie & Lucinda. She died 26 Oct 1838. Lucy Via Wood, Wife #4, Mother of 6 children: Fred, Byrdine, George, Nancy, Ruth, Matilda. She died about 1851. The above was taken from: Tombstone Inscriptions of the Cemeteries of Patrick County, Virginia, compiled by O. E. Pilson Cemetery #519, page 235. Another great source for Patrick County researchers. Hope this helps. Nettie S. Clifton <nettie@erols.com>
