Finding my birthfather less than two years ago was one of the most exciting things I have ever experienced. But I will never forget the day that someone loaned me Mr. Pilson's book of the cemeteries in Patrick Co. I was born in Greensboro, Guilford Co, NC in 1948 and was adopted at the age of 4 months. When I found out some of the surnames in my birth family, I began to search diligently to see "who I was" and "where I was from". When I brought Mr. Pilson's book home with me from NC to Alabama, I began to devour the book. I had looked and looked for infomation on my great grandmother but it seemed I could get no where. After I had kept the book for approximately 6 months, I decided I had better return the book to its owner. I decided to take one last evening and see if I had missed anything. I will never forget when I found what I thought to be my great grandmother I had been looking for. It was her! That opened up a new channel for research and I have been able to find two more generations before her. I feel like Mr Pilson had a part in helping me locate my family and fill in a lot of missing pieces of my life. I now have my own copy of his book. I regret I never met him.
