I think I have identified the source of my befuddlement regarding the parents of Elizabeth DeHart, third wife of Dickey Wood. The woman age 50-60 in the 1830 census is probably the second wife, Nancy Fannie Brammer rather than Elizabeth. Therefore Elizabeth DeHart could well have been the daughter of James and Catherine Hubbard DeHart. The 1820 census listing for James DeHart includes one female under 10 and two females 16-26. One of the older females would have been Lucinda, who married John Richard Wood, son of Dickey and Rachel Cockram Wood in 1821. The other would have been Mary, born 1800-1804, who married Nicholas Handy in 1822. The 1830 listing has one female 15-20 and one 20-30. The younger of the two was presumably the youngest girl in 1820, born between 1810 and 1815. This could well have been Elizabeth, but I would like to see documentation. Are her parents' names on the marriage record? Charles Leon Harris
Crystal Wood wrote and Eugene Wood submitted the article in Patrick Co. VA Heritage, Vol 1, that Richard Wood "Father Dickey" married first Rachel Cockram and their children were Henry, Alex, German, Peter, Edward, John Richard, Jeremiah and Anna. His second wife was Frances "Fannie" Brammer and there were no children. His third wife was Elizabeth DeHart and their children were Press, Jack, Dolly and Lucinda. His fourth and last wife was Lucy Via and their children were Fredrick, Byrdine, George, Nancy, Ruth and Matilda. Richard died Jan 12, 1859. Eugene Wood was a great, great, great-grandson of Richard Wood. His father was Solomon Sylvanus Wood. Crystal is descended from Richard's son Edward. Stephen Dehart and Susannah Elgin had a daughter Elizabeth C. DeHart, born about 1845. Elijah Hubbard Dehart and Exonia Leona Nancy Oney Grimmett had a daughter Elizabeth DeHart, born 1832.
