In reference to a posting on this site, copied and pasted below, many of the dates and events shown on the 'url' are incorrect. One example shows that Powhatan County, Virginia was formed in 1777 from Cumberland and Chesterfield Counties. Cumberland is correct. Chesterfield County is incorrect. A very small portion of Chesterfield County was annexed to Powhatan County in the 1849-50 time period. There are quite a few other errors on the site, many showing the order dates of county formations, not the dates that the counties were actually formed. It appears the person or persons putting together the site used incorrect sources, whereas the Library of Virginia would have been the appropriate source to use.
