    3. The death record of Nancy Nowlin (as transcribed by Eunice Kirkman) shows: Fulcher, Nancy Race & Sex: W/F Age: 66 Date: 6 Nov 1874 Location: No. Mayo Cause: Pleurisy Parents: Franklin and Sally Nowlin Consort: Ed Fulcher Informant: John Fulcher Relationship: Son Eunice lists a total of 20 Fulchers who have Patrick County Death Records between 1870 and 1896, but Ed, Edmond or Edmund is not among them. He does show up in the 1880 census, 78 yrs old and living alone. I have recorded in FTM a death date of "abt 1890", but I neglected to record why I put that date in (doh!). I'll have to do some digging through my "stuff" to see where I came up with that. Another death record that may be of interest to you is that of one of Hardin's sons. Fulcher, Henry Race and Sex: W/M Age: 14 Date: 26 Dec 1873 Location: So. Mayo Cause: Fever Parents: Luvenia & Harden Fulcher Informant: Jack Craig Relationship: Unrelated The 1870 census shows Henry at the age of 11 living with Robert D. Craig and his wife and father John Craig. His occupation is listed as laborer. I'm assuming that the father John Craig is the Jack that reported his death. One further note on Nancy Nowlin Fulcher: While rummaging through stacks and stacks at the Patrick County Historical Library last November, I ran across a transcribed copy of the will of Nancy's father, Francis Nowlin. It was while there that I learned about Genweb. I later discovered that the will is also posted in the archives. If you don't have it already, you can find it at: http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/va/patrick/wills/nowlin1.txt Do you have any other children recorded for George and Fanny besides Edmond and Hardin? Is this a misprint or did they both die on the same day??

    3. Thanks for the info on Edmund. I figured the death date I had was probably a misprint. The children I have for George and Fanny Fulcher are: Edmund Spencer George William Hardin Phillip James An interesting fact about Phillip and Hardin was that they named some of their legitimate children the SAME names as the apparently illegitimate ones they had with a woman known only as "Missouri Fulcher." Neither brother ever married this woman, but we know that at least two of her children were Hardin's and several are attributed to Philip! By 1850, Missouri (aka Zurah, Zenie, Masoria...) had moved on to Montgomery Co., but she somehow kept having Fulcher children, though no adult male is ever listed in her household on subsequent census reports! Sordid stuff!
