    1. Mays, Doss, Hollandsworth, Harris connection
    2. Need help with the following: Henry Mayze was the father of Susannah Mayze who married Thomas Hollandsworth; their daughter, Elizabeth "Betsy" Hollandsworth married Samuel Harris(PCVA Marriage records, ministers return, 10 Oct 1793) Henry Mayze, per his will, had a son named David. (1786 Nov 4 Will of Henry Mayze, Henry Co., VA, Will Book 1 (1779-1799), Pages 150-151 ) Drury Mays was son of a David Mays.(PCVA death records, 27 Mar 1886, father David S. Mays) Drury Mays had a daughter named Rachel who married a Joel Doss.( PCVA death records - death of Drury Mays reported by son in law Joel Doss) William Harris, a son of Daniel Harris (son of Samuel and Betsy Hollandsworth Harris) married Saluda Doss (per PCVA marriage records, 24 Nov 1858). When Saluda died, her death was reported by a D.S. Mays (Drury Mays) according to the Patrick Co. death records, 15 Jul 1871. When her mother, Mary Neel (Neal) Doss died (per PCVA death records,24 Mar 1871) her death was reported also by D.S. Mays of Patrick County. In both instances, D.S. Mays was referenced as a neighbor. I have searched the 1870 census and found Drewry S. Mays, age 66 and his wife Sena, age 53, but Saluda nor her mother is living either with them or near them. I cannot find Saluda or Mary in any 1870 census. Nor can I can husband of Saluda, William Harris nor their son George Woodson Harris, my great grandfather born1861, in any 1870 census. Is there, in deed, a genealogical connection between these Mays' , Harris and Doss's? Or is it just a coincidence ? Any info on any of the above lines will be greatly appreciated. Thank you Pat C. Johns in Va.
