Good morning, Everyone! Got a few questions for you guys: Firstly, my ggreat-grandparents William NUNN and Martha Jane PIKE probably passed away in Patrick County, Virginia. I know of no date of death for William but some undocumented information circulating around the internet suggests Martha Jane died on 11 October 1911. I know there are no death records for Patrick County between 1896 and 1912, so I am looking for another way to prove or disprove this date, and I was wondering about a possible death notice or obituary. Does anyone know of any extant newspapers for that area and time period? I checked the Library of Virginia and it listed some papers but it does not tell what issues are available for any particular year. Secondly, are records/certificates of those deaths that did occur before 1896 available at the county level or must you order them from the State Vital Records Office? And lastly, does anyone know where any NUNN or PIKE family members are buried? I have been seeking the burial places of William and all his wives and children, his parents, and the parents of Martha Jane PIKE with nary a lead to go on so far.
