Sorry Folks, But I have looked at this since Eunice sent it on March 10, and I just can not keep still----so I am going to open my big mouth------First and foremost----let me say that I have absolutely nothing but the highest respect and regard for Eunice B. Kirkman and I appreciate so much her great expertise and her most generous helping those other of us fledgling genealogists. I have long admired her work as thorough and usually right on the money. So that being said, I must say that I personally seem to have errors in my Martin family research. And I am hoping that someone will be able to set me straight so I can clear up my files. I have reprinted below copies of the two posts and since Rootsweb will not take color, I have put my comments in italics and larger print so that they may be distinguished from Eunice's submission. I more than appreciate any corrections on my work as I have pretty much three direct connections to the Martin families. Sorry for the double post on Patrick and Floyd Counties. William Martin married to Mary? and they were the parents of Elvira Martin born 1867 in Floyd County and married William B. Dickerson in 1888 so we rule him out-- 2. William C. Martin born November 12, 1796 Franklin County, VA and died November 12, 1881 Floyd County----his SECOND wife was Mary Lampe but they did not marry until October 30, 1873-----his FIRST wife was Sarah Harris whom he married in Patrick County June 27, 1820--He could not be 75 in 1850 unless the Census age is incorrect. Now what is most interesting is that of the NINE Children given by Eunice belong to William C. Louisa Martin born about 1843 died October 25, 1862 in Floyd County, married December 13, 1860 to Flemon P. Wimmer. 8. Samuel William Martin born February 5, 1846 in Patrick County died September 14, 1931 married 1867 Emeline Evelyn Cole and 1903 Lilly Ann Poff with both marriages in Floyd County.)
