In case anyone's interested, I think these maps by John R. Hildebrand are the "early settlers" maps the question referred to. His series includes maps of Augusta, Bedford, Botetourt, Fincastle, Franklin, Montgomery, Rockbridge, Roanoke, and Wythe countites, but apparently none of Henry or Patrick.
