    3. Eunice, When you say some say Isaac was the son of General Joseph MARTIN to which Isaac are you referring: Isaac, father of William, or Isaac, possible son of William? If you are speaking of the latter, it seems much more likely to me that William, son of Isaac, would name a son after his father, and that that son would name a daughter after his mother, so I am leaning toward William and Delphia being the parents of my Isaac. But since I have done little with this line thus far, and find myself relying greatly on the previous research of others at this time, I am open to hearing all other possibilities. I saw somewhere that the theory of Joseph being the father of any Isaac as being disproved based on Joseph's final will, but what that researcher failed to notice was that Joseph specifically stated that he wanted all of his estate left to his present wife and children, because the children of his previous wives had already received their share. I took that to mean that the children named in the will were those of his last wife only, so I don't think that alone would rule out his being the father of any number of other children. But again, I am only skimming the top here. I would love to hear any theories that you or the other members have. :-) Lee > > X-Message: #5 > Date: Mon, 20 Feb 2006 09:34:02 -0500 > From: "Eunice B. Joseph Martin; I've found no evidence to support that. It is believed by some that Isaac was born in Maryland and migrated to Henry/Patrick county. I've found that Martin was both an English and French name... and many Martins came to the colonies from different countries early on. > > A DNA testing group of male direct descendants would likely present a number of surprises. > > > -- Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness Volunteer for Spartanburg County, SC Pass the favor on: http://www.raogk.org/ Cemetery Photography & Research http://www.timelesstombstones.com/ The Family History of Bob & Lee Anders http://www.leeanders.com/history/ For All Else: http://www.leeanders.com/
