Thanks to everyone who responded to my recent queries. I wonder if some one could clear up a question on Perdelphia Martin. I have the following marriage for her: James Craddock m. Delphia Martin, Sep 16, 1834, Patrick County; but elsewhere, I see her husband listed as either D.F. Craddock, or I.F. Craddock. Which is the correct Craddock? Thanks, Art Steiger __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Mail has the best spam protection around http://mail.yahoo.com
Art, Families back in that day often gave their children more than two christian names. Due to the fact that they all named their own children after brothers, sisters, or others in the family, they would use the name less used to differentiate from another family member (How many times are you going to yell for Joe if there are five or six Joes to answer?) I once searched for three brothers, becoming more frustated as time went on, only to discover that James, John, and Jack were one and the same. This doesn't answer the question, however, it may help to understand the discrepancy. Eunice B.
