Randy, Thank you, you are right Zachariah was son of Field Trent, but Field Trent was son of Alexander Trent Sr. and Elizabeth Scott. I will check into the James Purdy lead. Again, thank you for your reply Pat C. Johns in Va.
I have Zachariah and Nancy Purdy Trent listed in my data base, but very little about them. Their daughter, Martha, was Thomas G. DeHart's first wife. I have two other Nancy Purdys listed if you'd like that info. ----- Original Message ----- From: <PACJ1945@aol.com> To: <VAPATRIC-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, August 15, 2005 9:12 AM Subject: [VAPATRICK] Nancy Purdy > Are there any researchers familiar with the above Nancy Purdy? Are there any researchers familiar with the above Nancy Purdy? She married Zachariah Trent in 1821 in Patrick Co., Va. Zachariah died around 1827 and she then married Daniel Harris in 1829. Any info will be greatly appreciated. Pat C. Johns in Va.
I need a map showing the counties in Virginia maybe early 1910 or so Can anyone help me with a site. Thanks
I checked the tax lists for Purdies & Trents. Based on a cursory analysis of the tax lists of early Patrick County, it appears that Zachariah Trent is likely the son of Field Trent who may be the son of Elijah Trent. There is a James Purdie in the tax lists, you might try looking for his will. James appeared to have sons Caleb and Ezekiel. Randy Crouse McNew Huntsville, AL
I e-mailed Tom privately about his book and his web site. As soon as I hear from him I will let the List know how to get his book. It will be a referral to his web site as RootsWeb does not permit prices to be posted on the mailing lists. It sounds very exciting and I will be sure to let you all know. Barb S. I hope Tom gets permission to advertise his book. I am delighted to hear about it and I know I will buy a copy. I have at least 5 relatives who were in the Civil War; one died while serving there, a gggrandfather. Ann
Mrs. Stanley I wanted to ask you a question. As you know I am releasing a book about Patrick County in the Civil War and a website about Patrick County history. I would like to know if I have violated any rules or if I should ask you directly to place that information in the digest and/or on your website. As my website is about history and I have links to your site on multiple places I hope you do not consider it competitive as I am trying to give people history and connections to genealogy. Would you please let me know what I need to do get your assistance. Tom Perry

Sorry, I got distracted and did not complete this query. I am trying to locate where Kelly and family lived and where buried. Kelly born ca. 1815, died in Patrick County 9 Jan. 1896. His wife Zilphia Cock Montgomery died 24 Dec.. 1885, on what was their 50th wedding anniversary. There appear to be several marriages into the Henry Thompson family, which may have placed them in the Ararat section. Kelly's youngest son, Josiah, b. ca. 1860, called Joe in later years, married twice. Who were his wives? Thanks again, Mary Anne msutphin@tcia.net ----- Original Message ----- From: Mary Ann Sutphin To: VAPATRIC-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Thursday, August 04, 2005 12:59 PM Subject: Kelly Montgomery Is anyone researching Kelly and Zilphia Cock Montgomery's family? For descendants of CHARLIE AND CORA WEST and their children Claude, Tica, James, Solomon, Retta, Bennett, Ruth, Bertie, Cline, Flossie, Levi, Edna, Joseph, Eloise, and Eva. All family members and friends are welcome! Noon, Sunday, August 28, 2005, (4TH SUN)--Meadows of Dan, VA (COMMUNITY CENTER) In past years, we heard wonderful stories written by our "storyteller," Shirley Cochran Freeman, about life at the West family home. We have had special music presentations. Perhaps we will have both again this year. Bring a food dish to share...and...something for "show and tell"...a picture, picture album, scrapbook, letter, card, trophy, tool, certificate...something related to Meadows of Dan, to the West family and its genealogy, or something just interesting to you. We all know that West folks are notorious for their shyness, so "show" without the "tell" will be fine!! And, bring a musical instrument and play a little. It's not a reunion unless we are all there!
