    3. I have checked the will records in Henry County and found and inventory and a will listing a daughter who was a Nance, but nothing listing all his children. A lot of the information about them seems to come from the History of Henry County by Judith P. A. Hill, from about a century ago. John King was married to a Seward, there is a record of an acknowledgement where they sold her father land in Brunswick, but the deed itself does not seem to be recorded. Helen King married Joseph Jefferson Gravely . >From: p wright <zphw@nc.rr.com> >Reply-To: VAPATRIC-L@rootsweb.com >To: VAPATRIC-L@rootsweb.com >Subject: Re: [VAPATRICK] Rev. 3. The Heritage of Rockingham county book page 357 lists her as the daughter of Elder John King (baptist preacher), and says she married Charles Jones 11 OCT 1795. He is my 4th great grandfather. I have a birthdate of 10 Jun 1780 for a Mary Helen King. I am not sure of the accuracy, if her, she would have been 15 on the above marriage date. It says John was born 1758 in Brunswick Co., Va and is on the tax lists there from 1782 - 1792. And then in the Henry County tax lists in 1793, preaching for the leatherwood and beaver creek churches. Says he died in 1821. He married mary elizabeth seward daughter of charity and benjamin seward I have their marriage in 1779, I do not have the source handy. I have do not have any Wade family info for them. http://www.rockinghamcountyhistory.com/id20.htm p.wright gen42 wrote: >I am trying to find information about Mary "Polly" King who married Charles Jones. 3. Truman, Any updated info on the visit to Woods Gap, VA and the Wood family cemetery? My uncle Gerald Wood and I are planning to be there on April 29th. My uncle lives in Weston, WV and I live in Albuquerque, NM; we are descendants of Richard "Dickey" Wood. My uncle and I visited Patrick Co., VA in the fall of 2004 but were unable to locate the cemetery at Woods Gap. We did learn a great deal about our family from the helpful ladies at the Genealogy Library in Stuart, VA. I am looking forward to learning more about the family and going to Woods Gap with someone who knows where it is and how to get there. Please let me know if the date is still the same, looking forward to meeting you and other descendants soon. Ray Wood 986 Lynx Loop Ne. 3. Lee, just read your message re Delphia. My grandmother was Ruth Turner, daughter of William and Martha Philpott Turner. I authored a book "Early Virginia Settlers, Blackard, DeHart, Hubbard, Hurst, Lawson, Shelor, Southern Thompson, Turner" in 2001, printed by Gateway Press here in Baltimore. In 2005 I typed a Supplement to my book, enlarging my families on Turners, Philpotts and Harrises. I think in my book I have James DeHart married to one of the Delphia Martins. I would be interested in any family stories you might have and maybe you would be interested in some of my information. 2. John Taylor Martin Jr.
    3. Hello Cousin Lee! The Isaac Martin married to Phyllis UNK is speculated by some to be a son of Gen Joseph Martin. I don't believe this to be the case myself, if for no other reasons than Isaac would be too old and the geography is wrong. But I've been wrong before and will be again. However, I prefer to theorize that this Isaac is a decendant of Captain John Martin, the only member of the original "Adventurers" at Jamestown to survive, stay in America, and prosper. I have absolutely no proof of this theory, but we should never let facts get in the way of a good story....GASP! (just kidding folks, don't have a heart attack.) I, also, am descended from Isaac and Phyllis' son William who married Philadelphia (Delphia) Walden abt 1770 in Halifax County. Actually, I descend from two of William and Delphia's sons. My grandmother (Frances Ruth Martin) was the great-granddaughter of their son Isaac Sr (9/1/1782-8/28/1872) and his 2nd wife Susanna Purdy Rogers, whom Isaac married soon after the death of his first wife Elizabeth "Betsy" Nelson in 1827. My grandfather (Estridge Dewey "E.D." Martin) was the great-grandson of William and Delphia's son Giles Sr. and his 2nd wife Sarah Arnold. It is always exciting to find another cousin and I look forward to exchanging info with you. John Taylor jtmartin@bellsouth.net
