Rachel, have you looked at 1870 Patrick Co. Census? There were several Midkiffs listed, including some who wandered into Carroll Co. I do not have a son named 'David' though but do have one named 'Greenville - aka - Green. Also a son named 'Levi'. Other daughters were; Frances; Martha; Patsy. Unfortunately, I don't have DOB's. They were probably born in Patrick, Henry or Franklin cos. They did live in the "Smith River" section according to census. Matthew also had a 2nd family living in Franklin co. Va. who went under the name of MORRISON and MIDKIFF. It gets very confusing!!!!! eileen(moore)coppola

Looking for folks out there researching the families of MIDKIFF and STOVALL. These 2 families lived in Patrick and Franklin cos. abt. 1800's. My line starts with Matthew and Susannah(CLEVER)MIDKIFF. It is believed she was from Pittsylvania co. They were m. in 1822. I have found members of this family in both Patrick and Franklin Fed. census. The connection between the Midkiff and Stovall families is through: George Tyler Midkiff and Louella Texas Stovall, m. in 1876, Patrick co. VA. 'Tyler' was s/o Frances Midkiff Louella(aka - 'Tex') was d/o Archelaus and Mary T. Stovall Does anyone know anything about these families? Eileen(moore)coppola

Hi Everyone, It's just been brought to my attention that many times when answering a message we do not change the "subject line" even though the "subject" has changed. It seems the "Subject Line" is very important when searching the archives. So I wonder if we could all take a minute and change the subject line, when replying to a message, IF the subject in the message changes. Thanks, Barb S.
