    3. Hello Everyone, My name is Peggy Light and I just discovered the Patrick County list this week. I was raised in the Meadows of Dan area but now live in Pennsylvania, so most of my research is done long-distance. I am researching the names Light, Burnett, Conner, Bowman, Hall, Smith, McAlexander, Scott, Bolt, McGrady, Quesinberry, Marshall, and Martin, among others, all of them from Patrick and Carroll Counties. Presently, my big mystery is the history of my g-g-g grandparents, Samuel and Sarah Light. Some sources say Samuel was born in 1797 in Pennsylvania and died in 1831. I have found no verification of this, in fact, I have found no record of them at all except on the death record of their son, James Light. Is there anyone else on this list researching the Light family? I am looking forward to participating in this list. Peggy

    1. STUART
    2. Hi Rena, Thank you so much for taking your time to do the STUART lookup for me. We will just keep looking. I don't seem to be able to find all of this family in Patrick County that grandmother Sarah Elizabeth Stuart talked about! Maybe it was her DAVIS side. We can't find anything on her mother, Edmannia Virginia Davis. I am beginning to believe she came from a neighboring state. Thanks again! Anne

Hopefully it will give us some more information for our search. Would you please look for STUART? We have grandmother Sarah Elizabeth Stuart b. 10/7/1888 m. Judge Howell Collier 8/16/1911. She said on marriage she was born in Pulaski. Sarah's parents were John Alexander Stuart b. July 1852 and Edmannia Virginia Davis b. March 1857. They were married 1873 and had the following children: John 1875, Tildon Oct. 1876, Hattie 1879, Ellen 1881, Alice Ada 1883, Charles, 1885, Sarah Elizabeth 1888, Frank 1889, Samuel 1891, Ira/Fred 1896, Ethel 1897, Myrtle Virginia 1899 and Mary 1901. We found John Alexander and Edmannia and children in Bland County in the 1880 census. In 1900, they were living in Pulaski. We cannot find them prior to the 1880 census, but grandmother said her family was from Patrick, Carroll, Henry and Bland Counties. Thank you for your help! Anne Bays

    2. Dear Rena, Thanks for your kind response. The record which we need very much is that of my gg-grandmother SARAH J. MCMILLIAN, wife of JAMES LEE MCMILLIAN (b. April 1837,d. November 1, 1919). But since it is her parents names we are searching for, I think that only the official death record, or an abstract of it, that would reveal that. She is buried in the McMillian Cemetery. Their rec# corresponds to the order the homes were visited so the closest would be Archibald Stovall. I wanted to thank you for the info on Greenville Midkiff's first wife. I'll add her. Barb R.
