I have found 3 different William Underwoods buried in Pulaski County,Va. William B. Underwood born 1883 died 1956 buried Appalachian Conference William J. Underwood born 1872 died 1958 buried Sunrise Burial Park William M. Underwood born 1879 died 1971 buried New Dublin Maybe you can go back further on one of these Williams in this county. Terri, Have you checked Surry and Stokes Counties, NC? They are loaded with Lawson's. Several, or I should say numerous JAMES LAWSON'S. My granndmothers parents were both Lawsons and each family had several James. Your names sound very familiar and I will check my files. Hi - thanks for entering in - I think that seems logical. Amanda would've been 6yo in 1860. They very well could've used a nickname in those days for the census-taker. I feel better. I checked out the 1870 census too and didn't find them there. Now - I'm back on track - just have to start looking for the info. on her parents, Joshua and Mary.
