Hi Am I the only one who is suddenly getting no e-mail? Was it something I said? I scares me when I get on-line and only have 2 messages. -- Take care Terri Grote->
Good morning; I am also searching the STOVALL's of Patrick co., and would be interested in any information you may have. My connection runs through "Louella T. Stovall" m. "George Tyler Midkiff", 1876. She was d/o or gd/o Archelaus(Archibald) H. Stovall and Mary Tabb Sandifer. It is my understanding, this was a rather notorious(?) branch of the family. Archelaus was s/o Brett Stovall and Nancy Hughes. Any information you may have would be helpful. thanks eileen(moore)coppola
Ramona, I have just a little bit on Martin Slaughter. What do you need? Hi ---- Yes, a man with 18 children and a MINIMUM of 75 grandchildren (That's just from the first 8 children). I am still trying to sort out the lines. But I know that I'll have trouble finding families after the 1920 census. Thanks, Barb

I realize that Batement is in Patrick County. It was listed in 1898/99 as "Batement Post Office." My challenge is in trying to find where it is/was located in Patrick County. It, more than likely, was a very small community that could have been absorbed into another community. Thanks to all for trying. If I locate it, I will let you know. Jack

In a message dated 98-11-03 09:40:46 EST, you write: << Corrections for these entries: William BURGE - Polly COX 13 Dec 1796 William was the son of Woody Burge, who lived on Peters Creek from 1775 until just before 1800, when he moved to Rutherford Co, NC. Martha was the daughter of George and Mary Gray New, originally of Patrick, but at the time of the marriage of Stokes Co. This error also appears in the IGI. I once queried a gentleman from Automated Archives (whatever the company was called then) about whether they simply used IGI data. He said no. Marv Burge >> Marv: Thanks for the corrections. We will list the corrections on the Marriage records database just as you have it for the Patrick Co., VA web page. That's probably where these records will eventually end up. Thanks for pointing out the errors. This will help one of your cousins while searching the same ancestors in the future if they ever come across the "records & revisions" in the Patrick Co. webpage. Do you have any other marriage records to share that the Automated Archives didn't list? I had a few but checking my sources trying to find out where I got them from before I include them onto our list. Melinda

Good Morning! There have been changes made in the: "Patrick Co. Va Archives Table of Contents" http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/va/patrick.htm Barb S.
According to the book "AMERICAN PLACE NAMES of Long Ago" by Gilbert S. Bahn, Bateman was in Patrick County, VA. The 1898 population shown for Bateman was 19. My current maps don't show Bateman. The referenced book is a republication of the index to Cram's Unrivaled Atlas of the World as Based on the Census of 1890. James
