I sent the e-mail to you and to Joann Caravito since she and 2 or 3 other researchers had come to the Patrick County Historical Museum asking for information on William and Ann in the belief they were parents of the Sally Jones who married Benjamin Belcher. This belief was in contradiction to my belief regarding Willian and Ann's daughter Sally whom I firmly believe married Lewis Shelton. I have considerable documentation on the twelve children of William and Ann,their spouses, and some of their children/descendants. My own line is from Nancy who married Jeremiah Hylton, 16 Dec 1819 in Patrick County. Hopefully, someone will soon determine and prove the parentage of Sally Jones Belcher. Thanks to everyone who has helped me. I am at a loss as how to connect my suspected ancestors to my grandfather's SHELTON family. I need a link between George Madison Shelton 1881-1978 and his supposed father, Charles Madison Shelton of Patrick Co, VA. Charles served in the 58th Va. infantry in the Civil War. I have found information on three or more Charles Sheltons in Patrick County. One of them was married three times ...Napier, Campbell and Jefferson. His parents are listed as Thomas and E.D. Shelton. The info on George's death certificate (no birth certificate located) ..was based on my own unsure memories of a Napier name. That is Elizabeth Napier. The Charles M. Shelton I found in the 58th infantry.. is listed as wife's name Elizabeth Allen. If I can find MY Charles Shelton with children from at least two marriages as being, Susie, Bert, Florence, Maggie, George and possibly more..then this would be my Charles Shelton. If anyone has suggestion on how I might find this or if you have this link, I would appreciate you reply. Cordially Deborah Shelton Wood

Don't know if this helps any, but Ifound Nancy Hancock,b. 1764, married Jesse Corn, Feb. 21, 1780 (M.L.B.Fluvanna Co.). He died prior to Sept. 27, 1810,, as on that date (D.B. 3, p. 347, Patrick Co.) Wm. Hancock gave bond "to pay the orphans of Jesse Corn, deceased all such estate or estates as now or shall hereafter appear to belong to said estate." Under date of October 3, 1818, (D.B. 5, 195, Patrick Co.). Nancy Corn, Admrs\x., John a Corn, Richard Sharp, William Corn, Jesse Corn, James Sharp, SAMUEL CORN, Joel Chitwood,William Chitwood and Dicy Corn,by her guardian, William Hancock, heirs and distributees of Jesse Corn, dec'd conveyed 174 acres on the North Side of Sycamore Creek to Richard Barbour. (See Also D. B. 5, p. 388 Patrick County., for conveyances from the same parties to John Hancock). I know this hasn't anything to do w/marriages but thought perhaps something in it would be useful to you.
